Aghamore – “Achadh Mór” means “The Big Field”

 Aghamore is a small rural village in east County Mayo. A beautiful peaceful village, Aghamore is only 10 minutes from Ireland West International Airport and just 5 minutes drive from Knock Shrine.

The area is well known for its strong Irish culture with a vibrant music tradition. The village itself is typical of rural Irish villages with a pub, shop, post office, church and school.

The community in Aghamore have a deep sense of their history and a lot of information is available on Archaeology sites in the area, Geology of the area Famine and famine graves.

Our school is a small rural primary school. We have 70 children in 8 class groups. The children range in ages from 4 to 12.

There are a total of 6 teachers and we also have a secretary and a caretaker/cleaner.
